A two-and-half-year-old girl was rescued by the police eight months after being sold off by a daycare centre here at Kukatpally.

Getting into details, the girl's mother had dropped her daughter at a daycare centre in Kukatpally and gone to work on August 27, 2018. After returning from work, when the woman went to the centre to pick her daughter, the caretaker couple claimed that there was no such child with them. The woman then approached the police but the complaint was not registered.

It was only after six months, she was able to register the complaint when she approached the Cyberabad police commissioner. As the case did not move forward, she then went to High Court last week where she stated that her child had been sold by the daycare centre to private persons. She also complained that the police refused to register an FIR.

The court which heard the case expressed displeasure at the police for not registering an FIR for six months and directed them to trace the child.

The police traced the child and handed over to her mother.
