Somajiguda: Tribal Reservation Porata Samithi organised a round-table conference to discuss on giving reservations to STs based on their population in Telangana, at the Press Club here on Friday. Former MP Ravindra Naik, former MLC Ramulu Naik, president of Mala Mahanadu G Chennaiah, former minister Amar Singh Kalawath and leaders of various people associations participated in the discussions.

Speaking at the round table conference, Ravindra Naik demanded that the State government increase total reservations to more than 50 per cent, similar to some states like Tamil Nadu. Criticising the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao for not fulfilling his promise of providing 12 per cent reservations to triblas, he said that there was no need of 12 per cent reservation but demanded that the government provide 10 per cent reservations based on their population. Demanding that the State government pass tribal reservation bill at the earliest and fulfil its promise to tribals, He alleged that the CM KCR was trying to sow seeds of dissension between Gond and Lambada tribal sects. He said that they would tour all the constituencies in the State if the tribal bill was not passed in the upcoming assembly sessions and would organize a 'Chalo Hyderabad' programme, followed by a protest dharna in New Delhi. He appealed the State government to change the polling date of cooperative elections as Sevalal Jayantis are celebrated on February 15.
