TRS Govt playing with lives of students: Congress
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy has accused the TRS Government of playing with the lives and careers of lakhs of students by not conducting public examinations in a transparent manner.
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy has accused the TRS Government of playing with the lives and careers of lakhs of students by not conducting public examinations in a transparent manner.
Gudur Narayana Reddy, in a media statement on Monday, said that the State Government's decision to form a three-member committee to look into the discrepancies and goof up in intermediate results was nothing but a confession of its mistake. He said thousands of students have complained that they were either marked 'absent' or 'fail' in the provisional marksheets although they cleared the exam. Similarly, there were many other errors in the marksheets of thousands of students. Having denied of any goof up initially, the State Government has finally admitted of discrepancies and constituted a three-member team headed by Telangana State Technology Services (TSTS) Managing Director Venkateshwar Rao to probe into the matter. "Since the State Government has admitted of mistakes, it should immediately sack Education Minister Jagadish Reddy and Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) Secretary Dr. A. Ashok," he said.
The Congress leader also accused TRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao of defending another scam in education department. "Instead of recommending stern action against those responsible for goof up in intermediate results, KTR is ridiculously advising the students to apply for 'recounting or re-verification'. Any student who is not satisfied with the results will do that naturally. KTR should explain as to why such errors have occurred at the first place," he said.
Gudur Narayana Reddy alleged that TRS Govt has been playing with the lives of lakhs of students. He also alleged that the job of Data and Result Processing was assigned to a private company Globarena Technologies reportedly at the instance of KTR. He said Globarena Technologies was the same company which failed in 'Examination Automation Work' of JNTU - Kakinada in 2015 causing hardship to lakhs of students. Despite its bad track record and lack of experience, the same company was assigned the job of valuation of intermediate results, he said.
The Congress leader also pointed out that on April 16, State Government has admitted of mistakes in the Mathematics Question Paper of 10th Class and also announced that six marks would be given to students who attempted those erroneous questions. "State Government cannot run away from its responsibility by just adding marks. It should take action against those responsible for errors in the question paper," he demanded.
Calling TRS Government insensitive and inefficient, Gudur Narayana Reddy said that the goof up in intermediate results was not a simple mistake, but a well-planned scam aimed at benefitting a few private colleges. Therefore, a fair report could not be expected from the three-member committee constituted by the government. However, he said that the Congress party would wait for three days till the committee submits its report and decide future course of action. He pointed out that the CID investigation into the EAMCET paper leakage case three years ago was yet to be completed. Entire case was hushed up and the real culprits were let off. He said that the Congress party would not allow the intermediate results case to be treated in a similar manner.
