Mahabubabad: Although it had fielded Maloth Kavitha from Mahabubabad, locally known as Manukota, Parliament constituency ignoring sitting MP Azmeera Seetharam Naik, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leadership appears to be cautious over the outcome. It's learnt that the TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao had directed party leaders in the district to give their best to clinch Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituency.
Even though the TRS leadership had assigned Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao to look after both Warangal and Mahabubabad constituencies, it appears to be jittery a bit especially in regard with the outcome of the latter.
Apparently, the TRS is cautious about the fact that Congress did well in the recent Assembly elections by winning four segments – Bhadrachalam, Pinapaka, Yellandu and Mulugu – out of the seven in Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituency. Although TRS has two Congress MLAs Rega Kantha Rao (Pinapaka) and Banoth Haripriya Naik (Yellandu) in its fold, it worries about the people's mood.
Up against Congress nominee Porika Balram Naik, the TRS candidate Maloth Kavitha, a former MLA, also commands a huge following in the region. She also has the advantage of having her father DS Redya Naik representing Dornakal Assembly.
"A lot depends on Adivasis who outnumber Lambadas in Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituency. Whoever musters the support of Adivasis is going to win the ensuing election.
The Congress definitely has edge over the TRS as it proved in the recent elections to Assembly. The presence of Mulugu MLA Seethakka alias Danasari Anasuya and Bhadrachalam MLA Podem Veeraiah, both Adivasis, will play a critical role in the outcome of the polling," a senior TRS leader who don't want to be identified by name, told The Hans India.
However, this is where KCR comes into picture. He is capable of doing wonders as it proved in recent elections. KCR appears to have a special plan for Mahabubabad, he added.
Meanwhile, the TRS which is leaving no stone unturned to win the seat is trying to woo the sitting MP Azmeera Seetharam Naik to douse the dissidence if there is any. Kavitha accompanied by Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, K Srihari and D Vinay Bhaskar met Seetharam Naik and sought his blessings. The leaders who assured a suitable position in the government for Seetharam Naik sought his cooperation in the campaigning.
