Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to add a new dimension to Ganesh festivities that are held on a grand scale across the State every year. For the first time a 'Ganga Aarthi' would be held at Tank Bund on behalf of the government to mark the beginning of the festivities. The date for this new programme would be announced later.

A review meeting was held at Secretariat on Friday by Ministers Mahmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Ch Malla Reddy, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan with senior officials of various departments regarding Ganesh festival arrangements this year.

Later, addressing media, Home Minister Mahmood Ali said Ganesh festival would be held from September 2 to 12 in the city and across the State. He said that the government would conduct the Vinakaya festival with best arrangements in place.

Mahmood Ali pointed out that Hyderabad was popular across the country for celebrating the festival on a grand note.
