Venkatesh Netha of TRS wins Peddapalli Lok Sabha seat
B Venkatesh Netha of the ruling TRS emerged victorious by defeating Congress candidate Dr A Chandrashekar and BJP candidate S Kumar by winning Peddapalli Lok Sabha seat.
Peddapalli: B Venkatesh Netha of the ruling TRS emerged victorious by defeating Congress candidate Dr A Chandrashekar and BJP candidate S Kumar by winning Peddapalli Lok Sabha seat.
Peddapalli parliament constituency, reserved for SC category, is spread over two districts - Peddapalli and Mancherial - after districts' reorganisation. It includes seven assembly constituencies - Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Manthani, Dharmapuri, Chennur, Bellampalli and Mancherial.
In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Balka Suman from the TRS won with a bumper majority of 2,17,521 votes defeating Congress candidate G Vivek, who later joined the TRS. Balka Suman got 5,63,214 votes whereas G Vivek got 3,45,693 votes.
In recently held Assembly elections, Bulka Suman contested for Chennur Assembly constituency on TRS ticket and won over B Venkatesh Netha of Congress. However, in later developments, Venkatesh Netha joined the TRS and nominated for Peddapalli parliament constituency. In Peddapalli, 59.24 percent of voting was recorded. Out of the total 9,68,634 polled votes, TRS candidate B Venkatesh Netha got 4,40,783 votes, Congress candidate A Chandrashekar got 3,45,759 votes and BJP candidate S Kumar got 92,202 votes.
The TRS denied ticket to G Vivek and allotted it to B Venkatesh Netha as all the elected MLAs of five Assembly constituencies, which falls under Peddapalli Parliament segment, supported Venkatesh Netha's candidature.
Venkatesh Netha won over Congress candidate A Chandrashekar with a margin of 95,024 votes retaining the winning seat for the TRS, which was won in 2014 by Balka Suman.
