Warangal: The Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths, who went to Bhilwara district in Rajasthan to nab a gang of thieves, were attacked by the locals. An ASI and three constables were injured in the attack, it's learnt.

According to reports, the CCS team led by inspector David Raju left for Bhilwara district a couple of days ago in connection with burglary cases occurred in Subedari police station limits. Based on mobile call data, the police traced that burglaries linked to Palola village in Bhilwara district. Further,

they found that Suresh Bagariya was the kingpin of the gang.

After reaching Jaipur, the team hired a private vehicle and approached Phulia Lalan police and sought their help in nabbing the accused. Accompanied by constable Shambhu Singh, they launched search for the accused in Palola village on Sunday. During which they came to know that the accused is staying at his sister's place in Baratiya village. Then the team headed to Baratiya village, however, they tried in vain to trace the accused.

During the investigation, they came to know about another suspect Ram Karan Bagariya, a relative and also believed to be the prime aide of Suresh and arrested him.

When the police tried to set off from the village on their vehicle, a local mob, majority of them women, obstructed and attacked them. As the police were in mufti, the villagers did not identify them, it's learnt.

A huge posse of police personnel descended on the village following constable Shambhu Singh's alert to his higher ups and rescued the Warangal police. In the melee, an ASI Shivakumar sustained severe injuries and three constables escaped with minor injuries. Shivkumar was admitted to ICU in Bhilwara hospital. Later, the villagers said that they misunderstood the police as child abductors hence they attacked them.

The local police took around 25 villagers, who attacked the Warangal police, into custody and started manhunt for the main accused. It's learnt that Warangal police were on their way back along with one accused.
