Warangal: A day after the management of National Institute of Technology (NIT) admitted that some of their students were found guilty of consuming ganja, Kazipet police, excise and task force personnel carried a joint raid on-campus hostels on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, in search of prohibited substances.

Disclosing this, NIT Registrar S Goverdhan Rao said that no suspicious material was found in the hostel rooms. He thanked police and excise officials for conducting raids. He advised students not to get tempted to indulge in such prohibited activities. He told them to focus on their studies for a successful career. It may be mentioned here that the security personnel had found traces of ganja in one of the rooms of 1.8K Hostel on the intervening night of October 26 and 27 on the campus. Following which, the NIT management conducted a probe and confirmed that 12 students were in a state of intoxication on that day. The students had already confessed before the Disciplinary Committee admitting their guilt.

The NIT management is yet to take action against the erring students. It is learnt that a decision in this regard will be taken after the arrival of NIT Director N V Ramana Rao who is in US currently.
