Hyderabad: Was Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao misguided by a scientist that paracetamol can cure coronavirus and that it would not survive in the hot weather?

The Chief Minister found himself in a defensive situation when he was mocked by Congress floor leader Bhatti Vikramarka during a short discussion on the issue.

KCR, who is known for his sharp rhetoric, alleged that the biggest coronavirus for the country was Congress party and the leaders of that party were trying to politicise his comments.

"I said that the virus will not survive in hot temperature and that paracetamol can cure fever as I was told by a scientist," he reminded.

It was aimed at preventing spread of panic in the state following the detection of first positive case after a techie was admitted at Gandhi Hospital, he said.

He said after the first corona positive case was detected, there was near panic situation in Hyderabad city and other parts of the state as people rushed to medical shops to buy masks and sanitisers even till late midnight and this resulted in stocks running out.

KCR said that though the Centre has sounded an alert, there was no need to panic as the government had taken all the precautionary measures for prevention.

Every 100 years such virus attacks were reported somewhere in the world and had spread to other countries. The entire world faced the threat of 'Spanish Flu' which claimed 10 to 12 crore lives of which 1.04 crore were from India in 1819.

He said the Health department has posted 200 personnel at RGIA International Airport, who are thoroughly checking all those arriving from abroad.

"A quarantine has been set up at Dhoolapally Forest area and at Harita Hotel in Vikarabad. The Government is ready to face any uncertainty and if need be was ready to spend even Rs 5000 crore to check the spread of virus," the Chief Minister said.
