Who gets TRS ticket - Arepally, Mallepally or Ganta?
The selection of candidate for Peddapalli SC constituency Lok Sabha has become a hard task for the TRS, which has to search for a substitute after Peddapalli MP Balka Suman won as Chennur MLA in 2018 Assembly elections.
Karimnagar: The selection of candidate for Peddapalli SC constituency Lok Sabha has become a hard task for the TRS, which has to search for a substitute after Peddapalli MP Balka Suman won as Chennur MLA in 2018 Assembly elections.
TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao initially considered to give the ticket to Gaddam Vivekanand and let Balka Suma contest from Chennur. Gaddam Vivek and Gaddam Vinod, sons of late Gaddam Venkata Swamy, had created problematic situation to the TRS during the last Assembly elections.
G Vivek fielded his brother G Vinod against TRS candidate Durgam Chinnaiah in Bellampally constituency. Not stopping at this, Vivek used all his financial sources to create
opposition against the TRS in the seven constituencies - Chennur, Bellampally, Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Manthani, Mancherial and Asifabad.
His news channel and newspaper also reportedly contributed in maligning the TRS. This effected Nizamabad Parliament constituencies - Jagtial, Dharmapuri and Korutla - very badly. The Gaddam brothers planned to defeat Koppula Eshwar, who is loyal to the TRS since 2001, and to make Adluri Lakshman Kumar to win the elections.
Koppula Eshwar, who won five times from Dharmapuri constituency, won with least majority due to Vivek's Influence. Koppula Eshwar alleged that Vivek hatched a conspiracy against him to defeat him in the elections.
Ramagundam candidate also pointed out that Vivek was the reason for his debacle in the elections.
The Peddapalli MLA had asked the high command to give ticket to any one of – TSPSC chairperson Prof Ganta Chakrapani, Mallepally Lakshmaiah and ex-ZP chairman Arepally Mohan.
Several TRS leaders and cadre are reportedly opposing Gaddam Vivek's candidature in the elections. The cadre are pointing out that Vivek was with the TRS during separate Telangana movement and later defected to Congress. They also criticised that the vote banks of Telangana - Karimnagar and Nizamabad – were shook due to Vivek's efforts to dethrone the TRS.
Hence, party sources revealed that Vivek was kept aside by the party in ticket allotment.
Since Madiga community has a lot of influence here, party working president KT Rama Rao thought that Arepally might have a greater chance of winning. In the past, Suguna Kumari won over G Venkata Swamy only because of her caste background.
In this scenario, it remained a suspense as to who will get the ticket among the three eligible candidates – Prof Ganta Chakrapani, Mallepally Lakshmaiah and ex-ZP chairman Arepally Mohan.
