Hyderabad: The political parties in the State are geared up for the Lok Sabha elections as Telangana goes to poll on April 11 and the Congress party is also ensuring that they win the polls by any means.

According to some Congress leaders the talk among the party is, "win the Lok Sabha seat and become president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee!"

According to party leaders, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is contemplating to give the TPCC president post to the senior out of the winners of the Parliament elections.

Ever since the high command has decided to field seniors in the elections, the State Congress leaders have been discussing the new president of the TPCC.

Against the recommendations of the TPCC, the high command has decided to field seniors like Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, A Revanth Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar for the Parliament polls. Besides, seniors like Balaram Naik, Konda Vishweswar Reddy and Madhu Yaski are also in the fray.

Present TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy was appointed five years ago and was given extension one more time in 2017. He would be continuing in the post till the end of the Parliament elections.

Several Congress leaders have said that he would be replaced soon after the end of the Parliament elections. The high command is not inclined to continue with him till the next Assembly elections.

According to them, the AICC is quite serious about the reverses being suffered by the party in the past five years under the leadership of Uttam. The Congress lost all the by elections to Assembly and Parliament. It also lost the general elections to the Assembly.

Several senior leaders of the party have been demanding that the high command remove him from the helm of affairs of the State party. MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and others have been vociferous in this regard.

The high command has decided to wait till the end of Parliament elections to replace Uttam. It would begin the process of selection of new president for the TPCC after May.

Party leaders said that this time the high command would choose a senior winner of Lok Sabha elections for the TPCC president post.

If the line of thinking of the high command is of any indication, seniors like Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, A Revanth Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Madhu Yaski, and K Vishweshwar Reddy would be the front runners for the post of TPCC chief, if only they emerge successful in the Parliament elections.

Among them Revanth Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy would be strong aspirants for the post.
