Hanamkonda: The outcome of the elections to the 17th Lok Sabha is crucial as it likely to impact a lot of issues such as national security and national integrity, AICC secretary in-charge of Telangana Srinivasan Krishnan said.

Speaking at the Greater Warangal Mahila Congress meeting here on Wednesday, he termed the ensuing election as a fight between 'communal' BJP headed by Narendra Modi and secular Congress led by Rahul Gandhi. And this election is inconsequential to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), he added. Think carefully before you exercise your franchise, he appealed to people.

"The five-year regime of BJP had only benefited people like Neerav Modi, Anil Ambani etc, while the problems of poor and downtrodden were unaddressed," he said, accusing the Modi led-government of ignoring the plight of farmers. He asserted that the Congress will take care of farmers, women and distressed sections if it was voted to power.

Referring to Congress manifesto, he said that Congress wants to give the poorest 20 per cent of India a minimum income of Rs 72,000 per annum. The free cash transfer is likely to eradicate poverty, he said.

Rahul will not do a Modi, the AICC secretary said, pointing to the unfulfilled promises of the latter. The Congress will also provide 33 per cent reservation in Lok Sabha and Central government posts.

"A vote for TRS is a vote for BJP," he said, stating that Modi and KCR have a 'secret' understanding.
