Youngistaan Foundation along with Telangana State Police supplied 500 nutrition packages to families of daily wage and migrant workers living in and around the Nallamala forest at Nagarkurnool. People living here work as stone breakers, farmers and those who collect the plant litter from the forest and then distributed by the roadside. Migrant workers, work as ice-cream sellers and balloon vendors. As lockdown extended, their savings came to an end and sought help from the local police.
Speaking to the locals who shared their experiences and struggles due to the lockdown, Bhairnav, a farmer from Mallapur village said, "Groups came to our area to supply groceries but only gave us rice. We respect their efforts but how do we survive only with rice? Today, we heartfully thank these bunch of youngsters for coming so far and providing us with all the essentials. Now we can survive till the lockdown ends". Adding to which Raju, a migrant worker in Achampet said, "I sell ice-creams to people near cinema halls and dhabas.
