Mahbubnagar: In a shocking incident, a man wielding a sickle to kill a local TRS leader on Monday was arrested by the police. According to Devarkadra police, Srikanth Yadav, TRS party mandal president of Devarkadra, has been alleged of stopping the regularisation of services of one Jayamma, a relative of Srikanth Yadav, by using his political influence.

Jayamma is working as an Endowments department employee. Recently, the State government had decided to regularise the services of all the workers working on contract bases. In the process, it has been alleged that Jayamma's file was stopped at the behest of Srikant Yadav.

With this, Jayamma's husband, Anjaneyulu, bore a grudge against Srikanth Yadav and decided to confront the TRS leader. On Monday, Srikanth Yadav, who visited the Sri Eeswarappa Swamy temple for offering prayers, was confronted by Anjaneyulu. Both Anjaneyulu and Srikanth Yadav clashed and exchanged blows.

As the news spread of scuffle between Anjaneyulu and Srikanth Yadav, Jayamma's son Sunil Kumar, who is also follower of Prashanth Reddy, another political leader, came to the temple wielding a sickle knife and ran towards Srikanth Yadav to hurt him. However, an alert constable at the temple stopped them. Meanwhile, Srikanth Yadav who escaped from the temple lodged a complaint at the Devarkadra police station.

The police immediately swung into action and took all those involved the incident into custody and registered a case and launched investigation. "We have got the information that a few people tried to hurt Srikanth Yadav. We have registered a case and investigating the matter," said Pandurangareddy, Sub-Inspector of police, Devarkadra.
