1,237 schools to get facelift under Nadu-Nedu in Krishna District

Vijayawada: District Collector A Md Imtiaz while reviewing the Mana Badi Nadu-Nedu scheme at the Collector's camp office here said on Saturday that the renovated schools under the scheme would have nine varieties of facilities.

Addressing the officials of the Education department, the Collector said nine types of facilities were identified for 1,237 schools under the scheme in the district. Out of more than 3,000 schools in the district, the officials are supposed to undertake work in 1,100 schools in first phase. However, some more schools were also added in first phase to make it a total of 1,237 schools. The 586 schools through Panchayat Raj, 333 schools through Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan, 254 schools under Andhra Pradesh Education and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APEWIDC) and 64 schools under municipal and public health department would be developed. All these schools would be provided infrastructure facilities.

Facilities like the construction of toilets, water supply to existing toilets, electricity, drinking water, furniture, painting, major and minor repairs, green black boards, setting up of English labs in primary schools and construction of compound walls would be provided to schools. The headmasters concerned should prepare MoUs with the parents' committees after obtaining administration permissions. The Collector said that he would personally supervise the works apart from visiting the schools. He instructed the officials to transfer 14 schools under the municipal corporations of Vijayawada and Machilipatnam and Gudivada municipality to the Panchayat Raj department. The compound walls for 562 schools could be constructed under MGNRE works.
