292 black gram farmers to get compensation:Collector

Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Md Imtiaz ordered the APSSDC officials to pay Rs 62,32,160 to 292 black gram farmers in a month who suffered loss due to black gram seeds in Bapulapadu, Agiripalli and Mylavaram mandals of the district.

The Collector on Thursday held a meeting with the agriculture department officials and said that the farmers suffered losses due to PU 31 black gram seeds supplied by APSSDC. He said that the report by Prof K Nagendra Rao says that the farmers would suffer losses up to two quintal per acre.

He said that as per the principal secretary orders, the seed corporation committee, farmers representatives had decided to pay Rs 11,200 per acre. Farmers in about 19 villages under these three mandals will receive compensation, said the Collector.
