33 addl polling centres for MLC election

Kakinada: East Godavari Collector and Returning officer for East and West Godavari graduate MLC elections Kartikeya Mishra has said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has permitted 33 additional polling stations for the elections to be conducted on March 22.

Participating in a video conference with ROs of various constituencies on Friday, he said that these 33 are in addition to 299 existing polling stations in both East and West Godavari districts.

The RO on this occasion said that these additional polling stations have been sanctioned on the premises of polling stations which have more than 1400 votes.

This proposal has been accepted by EC, the Collector revealed. The Collector said that ballot papers will be sent to concerned divisions on March 17.

He directed the ROs of various areas in both the districts to get ready with the ballot boxes for the conduct of the polling on March 22.

The Collector also directed the concerned to make arrangements like wheelchairs to differently-abled persons.

East Godavari Joint Collector A Mallikarjuna, DRO MV Govindarajulu, Kakinada Municipal Commissioner K Ramesh participated.
