4-corner contest in Kakinada city

Kakinada: The Kakinada Smart city is going to witness four-cornered contest in this Assembly elections with TDP, YSRCP, Jana Sena and BJP candidates in the fray. Sitting MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao alias Kondababu on behalf of TDP is contesting for third term.

YSRCP's Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy, close aide of party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is contesting for second term. Mutta Sasidhar of JSP and Pedireddy Ravi Kiran on behalf of BJP are testing their fortunes in this elections. Of the four, the last two are in the fray for the first time.

As far as caste equations are concerned Kapus with 34 per cent of population followed by SCs with 25 per cent and fisherfolk voters play key role in the elections. According to observers, Kapu voters' role will be decisive in the fine outcome of winner.

As far as the contesting candidates are concerned, the sitting MLA Kondababu of TDP is hopeful of his win because of various welfare schemes being implemented by the TDP and the developmental activities taken up in the last five years. The YSRC candidate Chandrasekhar is hopeful of popularity of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and the 'Navaratnalu,' the welfare schemes, announced by the party will help him to win the election.

JSP candidate Mutta Sasidhar is depending on the popularity of Pawan Kalyan among youth and his clean image and service motto will be added advantage to win in the elections. The BJP candidate is hopeful of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity besides welfare schemes and aid to farmers extended by the Centre.
