45,000 schools in State to get a facelift: K Venkateswara Rao
Srikakulam: The State government is committed to improve facilities at government schools on par with corporate schools, said Ministers for Civil Supplies K Venkateswara Rao and Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Krishna Das.
Inaugurating the 'Mana Badi Naadu-Nedu' programme at Pogiri government school in Rajam mandal on Thursday, Venkateswara Rao said the government had allocated Rs 33,000 crore for providing basic amenities in 45,000 schools across the state. Speaking on the occasion, the ministers also strongly supported the introduction of English medium in state-run schools.
They said English was essential for present and coming generations in the wake of globalisation. All standard courses and core subjects were required to be studied in English language and students can get more information with the English language, they elaborated.
They also expressed serious concern over poor facilities at government schools and stressed on revamping of government schools and education system for the present day requirements.
The government started 'Mana Badi Naadu-Nedu' event with an aim to provide basic facilities at government schools, they explained. Rajam MLA K Jogulu, Collector J Nivas and officials concerned expressed concern over poor facilities at government schools.
