Public participation vital in development: Dharmana Krishna Das

Srikakulam: Public participation is essential for development of state, said Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Krishna Das and District Collector J Nivas. Speaking at the 64th State Formation Day celebrations here on Friday, the minister recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters including Potti Sriramulu, who sacrificed his life for separate Telugu state.

After sacrificing his life, the then Central government realised the intensity of movement and formed separate state from Madras state, he pointed out. The minister said the government is committed to the development of state and all sections of people and all welfare schemes being implemented transparently without giving room for corruption.

On the occasion, the collector and minister felicitated the family members of freedom fighters and presented awards for those who got first three places in essay writing, drawing, painting and elocution competitions.
