6 Lakh people to get first shot of vaccine in Kurnool

Kurnool: District Collector G Veera Pandiyan said that the first shots of Covid vaccine will be given to 6 lakh people in the first phase across the district. The collector accompanied with joint collectors Syed Khaza Mohiuddin, Rama Sunder Reddy and Municipal Commissioner D K Balaji addressed a media conference here at Municipal Primary School in Sri Ram Nagar on Saturday.

The collector announced that around three covid vaccine dry run centres, one at Sri Ram Nagar the other two at Medicover hospital and E Thandrapadu were started. Following the orders of both Central and state government and covid protocol, he said all arrangements have been made to make the covid vaccination programme a grand success.

In the first phase around 6 lakh people under four categories, who have registered through covid app, would be given the vaccine, said the collector.

Veera Pandiyan said of the 6 lakh people, 45,000 were health workers, 30,000 frontline staff and 5 lakh people above the age of 50 and comorbids. To vaccinate the covid vaccine, 1,530 vaccine session sites (vaccine centres) have been started across the district. At every session site, 25 persons would be given a vaccine dose on everyday basis. The vaccine would be stored in cold storage rooms and the route map along with training was given to the officials.

In the first phase, four category people, health workers, police, revenue and the persons above 50 years and comorbid, registered in covid app would be given the vaccine. The villagers would be vaccinated if they were registered by the employees and volunteers of village and ward secretariat in covid app or on presentation of Aadhaar card, any identity card issued by the government or a slip issued by the resident doctors.

He later convened a meeting with the officials of the district level task force committee. He ordered the officials to follow the Central and state guidelines and protocol. The persons, registered in covid app for vaccination, will be given covid vaccination slips.

The officials need to give another slip that should contain the phone number and other details of doctor so that the persons can consult in case of any adverse effects after vaccination, ordered the collector.

The collector later inspected the Primary Health Centre at E Thandrapadu village and Medi Cover hospital and inspected the process of vaccination being done.
