Andhra government to disburse the compensation to Visakhapatnam gas leak victims' families today
A gas leak at the LG Polymers Company in Visakhapatnam RR Venkatapuram has killed as many as 12 people and hundreds are still being treated at various hospitals around the city. It is known fact that CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced compensation to the families of the deceased and directed the officials to take immediate action to ensure that this is done and the victims are provided on Monday. Ministers have been advised to go to the victims' families and disburse the compensation and was also told to make this compensation transparent without corruption. Chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy said ministers should stay in their villages to reassure the public.
State ministers Kannababu, Botsa Satyanarayana and Avanthi Srinivasarao have said that they will be compensate the deceased. Ministers spoke to the media on Sunday in the Government Guest House. The CM said on Sunday that the compensation should be paid without delay.
Along with the families of the deceased, the families of the victims on ventilators will also be compensated on Monday. Steps are being taken to compensate those who have been discharged within two days. Meanwhile, it is noted that the people in the affected villages will be compensated Rs. 10,000 once they reach times after treatment.
The committees set up for the gas leak incident made it clear that the people would be allowed into the villages only after the villages were said to be 100 per cent safe. Until then, people have asked by ministers to cooperate with the government. He appealed to stay in 21 shelters set up in various places. Even when they go home, they do not use homemade goods. Ministers advised the people not to use essential commodities like homemade rice, pulses and salt.
