Andhra Pradesh Government policies drive farmers to crisis: Chandrababu Naidu
Amaravati: TDP chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of farmers in Andhra Pradesh on account of total indifference of the YCP government in the past 20 months.
Naidu said that it was only because of the anti-farmer policies of the Jagan Reddy regime that over 1,029 farmers committed suicide. AP has come to stand in the third place in the country in farmers' suicides. In the tenant farmers' suicides, the State was standing in second place.
Addressing the meeting of party leaders in Machilipatnam Lok Sabha constituency, the TDP chief said that the suicides of farmers and farm workers went up by 55 percent. This was as per the records of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). It showed that the farmers in AP were desperate and depressed because of the insensible Jagan Reddy regime. The farmers were being targeted in the overall fraudulent activities of the ruling party.
Naidu deplored that the YSRCP land grabbers and gangs were setting their sights on the lands of farmers. When the YSRCP leaders were talking about the safety of farmers lands under the 'Bhuhakku-Bhuraksha', it was like the devil quoting the scriptures. Where was the need for using costly granite stones for survey stones which would be sunk into the ground for up to half of their size. Moreover, a Tughlaq decision was taken to sculpt Jagan Reddy photos on the survey stones. This is why the AP CM is being called Tughlaq 2.0.
Naidu called upon the party cadres to intensify the agitation for the sake of the farmers and agricultural workers. The TDP leaders should stand by them and extend all kinds of support. Psychological support should be extended to the families of the farmers who committed suicide. The anti-farmer policies and land scams of the ruling YSRCP Ministers and MLAs should be exposed in the public.
The TDP chief said that the Jagan Reddy regime have become thoroughly defamed and unpopular because of its non-stop filing of false cases and false arrests of innocent people. The same people who gave a huge victory would give a rude blow to the CM who is acting strangely and unreasonably out of arrogance and ignorance. In just 20 months, the YCP leaders' atrocities and misdeeds have reached a saturation point.
The former CM said that the people themselves are calling the YCP regime as a 'diabolical rule' that was perpetrating a 'jungle raj' on the people of the State. The TDP should hit back at the ruling party by creating awareness among the people about its atrocities and illegalities. The Opposition cadres should be ever prepared and ready to counter the enemy whenever the elections are held.
