Andhra Pradesh police are doing a commendable job: DGP Goutam Sawang

Andhra Pradesh is one among the top four states when it comes to combating against Covid-19 through increased testing and effective containment strategies, Director General of Police D. Gautam Sawang said.

Lauding the police for their commendable job in discharging their duties in times of the pandemic, the DGP said that 466 policemen have been infected as on date with the virus. "But we have intensified our combat strategies against coronavirus well in advance and also made sure to take enough care of not just the police personnel but also their families," he mentioned at a press meet held in Visakhapatnam on Sunday evening.

However, the DGP said, there is an element of the stigma attached to Covid-19 patients which need to be addressed.

Laying emphasis on wearing masks and following hand hygiene, Gautam Sawang underlined the need to protect oneself and safeguard others by practicing safety protocols diligently.

As a part of his two-day visit to Visakhapatnam, the DGP said he has been interacting with the officers across the district about pandemic preparedness, among other issues.
