Amaravati: The state cabinet will meet at the Velagapudi Secretariat on Friday at 11 am. This meeting assumes importance as Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced that the government would distribute house sites on December 25 to the landless in Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister has sought details of house sites to be distributed. The house sites, which do not fall under any litigation, would be distributed and construction of houses for the poor will also begin the same day.

The Chief Minister has asked the Collectors of the Nivar cyclone-affected districts to submit detailed reports of damages to the crops and habitations.

All Collectors have been asked by Chief Secretary Nilam Sahwney to send the items for agenda of the cabinet meeting as soon as possible along with the reports containing details of house sites and cyclone damages. Nellore Collector KVN Chakradhar Babu has been asked to send a complete report on the damages suffered by the people, both farmers and others due to the cyclone.

In the first phase, the government will construct 15 lakh houses at a cost of Rs 1.8 lakh each, without compromising on quality and the houses will be given to the beneficiaries free of cost. The Chief Minister announced this during his Spandana review programme with district collectors.

The Chief Minister has decided to hold cabinet meetings two times a month but due to the corona pandemic induced lockdown, it could not happen. The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet met on November 27 and approved many Bills.
