Arrest of Dr Sudhakar Rao undemocratic: BJP
Amaravati: The BJP AP president Kanna Lakshmi Narayana condemned the state government for suspension and arrest of Dr Sudhakar Rao, Narsipatnam Area Hospital, in a press release on Friday. He demanded immediate revocation of suspension as well as all cases on the doctor.
Kanna stated that it was the very sad, undemocratic, inhuman, uncivilized and highly objectionable way the State government had handled the issue of Dr Sudhakar Rao, an Anesthetist. Police smashed all human rights provided by the Constitution, in his case. Having got disgusted and having become helpless for the callous attitude of the State government towards providing masks and other PPEs to fight COVID19, Sudhakar Rao might have spoken out the problems faced by the hospital, Kanna observed.
The BJP leader stated that instead of proactively reacting by providing the needed equipment, the government was unkind and undemocratic in issuing suspension orders on the doctor. Mismanagement of this sensitive issue by the government made the Dalith doctor become mentally disturbed. Again, the way the police handled him in the public place by tying his hands like a criminal, stripping to half-naked and beating on his feet with lathi like third-degree measures were buried the honour, dignity and decorum of a medical professional in the State, Kanna lambasted on the State government. All these ugly scenes imprinted the undemocratic and inhuman rule in AP in the minds of all people in the world, he maintained.
