Assembly officials seem to have given a rude shock to Mohammad Ahmad Sharif, the chairman of the legislative council, who decided to send the three capitals and the CRDA repeal bills to the select committee. Officials have reportedly rejected the decision of the chairman of the legislative council recommending the three capitals bill to the Select Committee citing it to be made on the violation of rules. The council officials opined that since voting is not done to recommend the bills to the Select Committee, the bills cannot be forwarded to select committee.

In the high drama took place in the Legislative Council on the 22nd of this month, Sharif, the chairman of the council, has decided to send the three capitals and CRDA cancellation bills to the select committee. Chairman Sharif took this decision with his discretionary powers. The opposition TDP and the YCRCP argued over the issue, and tense situation erupted in the House.

Sharif, who had adjourned the House for ten minutes in the wake of a tense atmosphere in the council had met with officials in his chamber. At the same time, MLAs from both the ruling and opposition parties also went to the chairman's room and held talks for about three hours. The chairman of the House then announced that he would send the bills to the select committee with his discretionary powers. He then wrote to the parties to suggest the names of the members for the Select Committee.

Outraged by this, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's government unanimously passed the resolution on the abolition of the legislative council and sent it to the centre.
