Srikakulam: Professionals like advocates, doctors and employees of registration department welcomed the government decision to implement online registration of documents from November 1.

With an aim to prevent corruption at registration offices, to curb role of middlemen and to stop intervention of document writers in process of registration, the government introduced the online system.

According to sources, initially government allowed online process for registration of gift settlement and sale deeds. Government made it as an option and left it to the decision of parties to the documents. It means parties can be registered these two types of documents either through online or manual mode till public gets clear idea on it.

Manual system is continuing in force for registration of all other documents except gift settlement and sale deeds. Those other documents are marriage registration, lease registration and rent agreements registration.

In each sub-registrar and joint registrar office, one employee has been deputed for the purpose of creation of awareness among stakeholders over the online process. On first day on Friday, most of the gift settlement and sale deeds were registered through manual mode. Even after undergoing training programmes organised by the government, the public are not yet fully aware on it.

According to District Registrar R Satyannarayana, public awareness is essential for effective implementation of online registration of documents at sub-registrar and joint registrar offices.

He said, "We are allowing both online and manual modes for registration of gift settlement and sale deeds as per government guidelines."
