Ongole: District Medical and Health Officer Dr B Vinod Kumar flagged off the Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara rally from the district Collectorate on Sunday.

Hundreds of people, including the Arogya Sri staff, nursing students, employees of the medical and health department also participated in the rally which went up to Nellore bus stand centre and returned to the DMHO office.

The DMHO explained that the Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara program is started in the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23, 2018, under the health and family welfare department.

He said that the program was aimed at providing best services under the health and wellness centres and national health protection scheme. He announced that a fortnight program is being observed from September 15 to October 2, to mark the first anniversary of the program and to create more awareness about Ayushman Bharat in common public.

He explained that as part of the Ayushman Bharat, 90 primary health centres and 534 health sub-centres in the Prakasam district were modified into Health and Wellness Centres and providing 12 types of complete primary health services.

He announced that as part of the fortnight programs up to September 30, the staff in the health and wellness centres will conduct the tests and awareness programs for the health-related issues, Fit India, Yoga, physical and mental exercise, healthy lifestyle, eat right campaign, high BP, obesity and other national health programs.

The DLO Dr K Padmavathi, DTCO Dr K Suresh Kumar, DIO Dr K Padmaja, ADMHO Dr B Madhavilatha, Dr Bharani, Dr V Pullareddy, Dr Sravan Kumar, mass media officers M Mohan Rao, Bellam Narasimha Rao, B Sambireddy and other officials also participated in the rally.
