Call to improve medical services at field level

East Godavari Collector D Muralidhar Reddy reviewing medical and health services and irrigation projects

Kakinada: Medical officers should visit villages to extend required medical services to the public for better results, said East Godavari Collector D Muralidhar Reddy. The Collector reviewed the medical and health department services on Saturday and said that priority would be given to education, medical and health services in the district.

He directed the medical officers to take up non-financial issues and to identify the black spots to control the seasonal diseases like Malaria, Dengue and Swine Flu. He also suggested them to ensure drastic reduction of MMR, IMR by encouraging pre-natal care and institutional deliveries by effective utilisation of vehicles like 102, 104 and 108 feeder ambulances.

In this connection, Dr M Raghavandra Rao, Superintendent, KGGH narrated the medial services being extended through the hospital. He requested the Collector to take steps for enhancing the beds capacity of the hospital from the present 1155 to 2000.

Later, Muralidhar Reddy reviewed the Polavaram R&R works in the district and various irrigation projects, arrangements for Panchayat and Municipal elections and NREGS works.
