Chief Minister Orders Officials To buy Tomatoes in the wake of Price Hike
Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has directed the marketing department to start buying tomatoes immediately. This led to a resumption of tomato purchases in the cottonwood market yard. He addressed the issue of tomato farmers on Saturday. The issue of tomato purchase was discussed with the concerned authorities.
The fruits and vegetables have been re-regulated and officials told the chief minister that farmers can sell the tomatoes without paying commission to agents. Against this backdrop, agents claim to have stopped buying tomatoes. However, farmers have made it clear to agents that they will only sell them in the market.
CM Jagan told the officials not to disturb the farmers in any way. Take immediate steps to correct the situation in the market and start buying from the marketing department. Tomato purchases resumed in the cottonwood market with orders from CM. The marketing department officials are also participating in the auction without lowering prices. Since morning, 50 tonnes of tomato has been sold. This includes up to 5 tonnes of marketing under the Price Stabilization Fund
The marketing department commissioner Pradyumna said that now the traders are coming forward and buying tomatoes. Similarly, the police have lodged an FIR on agents who have trouble farmers.
