CM Jagan Reddy expresses grief over the death of legendary actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed his grief over the death of renowned writer, actor, editor and narrator Sri Gollapudi Maruthi Rao.
Known for his inimitable style of dialogue delivery and power-packed phrases in his short stories, plays and essays, the multifaceted Gollapudi, has earned a space of pride in the literary and cultural fields. The Chief Minister said and offered his condolences to the bereaved family members.
Gollapudi, who is survived with a son was undergoing treatment in Chennai, has breathed his last on Thursday. Maruti Rao had two sons and the younger one, Srinivas died too early. On Srinivas's name, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao established a theatre group and an award to encourage stage artists. Telugu Cinema will miss a legend like him.
