Vizianagaram: In a unique programme, the district officials take up door-delivery of saplings to the households and to increase greenery in the town. District Collector Dr M Hari Jawaharlal has decided to supply around 30,000 saplings to the households of this town to plant them in the premises of houses.

At the same time, the officials are asked to deliver the saplings at the door steps of residents. Actually during the rainy season, the government along with Forest department used to open a plants bank at Collector office for the past some years and supplied saplings to the people who come there. But this bank couldn't attract the huge public as they are reluctant to go to Collector office to get the saplings.

This year, Collector visited various parts of the town and identified the open and public places where the saplings can be planted. Later, he directed concerned Forest officials to take necessary steps to supply the saplings to the colonies and other places.

A plant ambulance also will be arranged to transport the saplings to the colonies. The people from any area of Vizianagaram town can call the concerned officials and order for the saplings according to their choice.

Dr.M Harijawahar Lal, said, `` Our aim is to make this town green. So our staff will reach every corner of the town and give the fruit bearing saplings like mango, guava or decorative, shadow giving saplings like Ashoka, Badam.

Our target is to not to leave any place without plants. Parks, colonies, apartments and streets are our target and we will make the town clean and green. Even the public also should be responsible towards environment and protecting the plants,'' he said.
