Collector inspects water scheme in Kakinada
Kakinada: East Godavari Collector D Muralidhar Reddy said the State government was trying to develop the integrated drinking water schemes in East Godavari district along with other districts.
He visited Kandikuppa village in Katrendipadu mandal of East Godavari district on Thursday and inspected the water scheme. Speaking on the occasion, Muralidhar Reddy said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered the district collectors in the State to supply potable drinking water through the integrated drinking water schemes.
He said that he was inspecting all the drinking water schemes in the district to streamline the water schemes and provide facilities to run the schemes. He said irrigation water supply would be halted 45 days after the end of Kharif season and there is possibility of the contamination of canals.
He said filter beds would be installed and drinking water cleaning works would be taken up in the district to ensure supply of purified drinking water. He said the district administration is taking measures to strengthen the integrated drinking water scheme set up in Kandikuppa village 20 years ago.
He inspected the filter bed, chlorination points in the plant on the occasion. Amalapuram RDO B Venkata Ramana, RWS SE Gayatri Devi, MPDO K Appa Rao, Tahsildar DVS Prasad and others accompanied the Collector.
