Collector sensitises people on plastic carry bags

Vijayawada: Usage of plastic carry bags can be eliminated by creating awareness among people, said District Collector Md Imtiaz. The Collector on Thursday made a surprise check at Rythu Bazaar and inspected the ban on implementation of plastic carry bags.

After observing a buyer carrying vegetables in a plastic carry bag, the Collector sensitised that person on the ill-effects of using plastic carry bags and handed him over a jute bag. The Collector told the Rythu Bazaar Estate Officer to make public announcement not to use plastic carry bags.

He said that the estate officer and the staff should take strict measures to sell the vegetables as per the prices fixed by the government.
