Congress alleges kickbacks in TTD bank deposits
Tirupati: Former Congress MP Chinta Mohan alleged huge kickbacks in depositing TTD income in various banks and demanded that the government should make all details public. He led a dharna with Congress activists before TTD Administrative Building against these irregularities on Friday.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said devotees from across the breadth and width of the country as well as from abroad visit Tirumala and give offerings to Lord Venkateswara.
"While depositing the TTD income in various banks some big shots in TTD have been getting hundreds of crores as kickbacks. Banks have been offering them one per cent commission for depositing with them," Mohan alleged and demanded a thorough enquiry into his charges. He found fault with the TTD for depositing hundreds of crores in the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka etc., with which they could be able to provide more loans to the people and helping for their empowerment, jeopardising our economic development.
Chinta demanded the TTD to make deposits at the national bank branches in the drought affected Chittoor district which will help the people here. Mohan questioned the motive behind depositing in other states when all national banks have opened their branches in the district.
Making a strong criticism on the TTD Executive Officer, he asked him to go on leave if he cannot provide transparent administration. He lambasted TTD's decision to handover the newly built guest house at Tiruchanur worth Rs 70 crore to private parties on lease.
The Congress leader did not spare the construction of Srivari temple at Thullur by TTD from his criticism and warned that the Congress will intensify the agitation on the acts of TTD in the coming days. Congress leaders K Prameelamma, P Naveen Kumar Reddy, KM Satyanarayana, P Prabhakar, Narayana Swamy and others took part in the dharna.
