Create awareness on rainwater conservation, officials told Collector
Ongole: Central Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha in a videoconference with the chief secretaries of the state governments and Collectors and district magistrates on Thursday said that they should take up awareness programmes on rainwater conservation techniques to improve groundwater levels.
Sinha announced that the rainwater harvesting projects taken up by the state and Union government should be integrated under Jalashakthi Abhiyan, a programme to be launched soon. He asked them to initiate rainwater conservation and rooftop water harvesting programmes throughout the country. He advised them to take up a result-oriented campaign on the need to conserve rainwater.
He enquired the officials about the water conservation programs being implemented by various states. He advised them to take the need to conserve water and improve groundwater levels as a movement into the public.
He asked them to conduct seminars, training programmes, workshops, exhibitions, trade fairs and competitions like painting, etc. He said that it is our responsibility to see the future generations get water for drinking and irrigation needs and it is our duty to conserve water for them.
District Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara, RWS SE Sanjeeva Reddy, EE Madar Vali, ZP CEO Rajasekhar, public health officer Ram Mohan Rao, NIC officer Venkata Subbaiah and others also participated in the meeting.
