Crops in 10,000 hectares damaged due to Kundu river floods in Kadapa
Kadapa: AP Agriculture Department Commission Vice-Chairman MVS Nagireddy said that farmers irrigating crops under the purview of Kundu river have incurred losses in 10,000 hectares in the district.
Nagireddy, along with Mydukuru MLA S Raghu Rami Reddy and Kamalapuram MLA P Ravindranath Reddy, Mydukuru inspected damaged crops in Mydukuru and Kamalapuram constituencies on Sunday.
Later, at Kanagudur village of Duvvuru mandal in the district, he said to media persons that Kundu river which is flowing in Kadapa district has received heavy inflows due to wide spread rains occurred in Kurnool district where several mandals recorded 300 to 500 mm rainfall for the last 10 days.
The inflows to the river due to rains caused heavy damage to the crops in Kadapa district. He said that flower gardens, horticulture crops, commercial crops in Chapadu, Duvvuru, Rajupalem, Pedda mudium were badly damaged due to flooding of Kundu river.
Government will extend financial support to the farmers after receiving report from the administration, he said. Joint Collector Gowthami and Agriculture department officials were present.
