Don’t misuse Dial 100 for prank calls: SP Siddharth Kaushal

Ongole: Prakasam District SP Siddharth Kaushal said that the facility 'Dial 100' in the police control room was delivering services to the people emergencies very effectively and advised the public not to make prank calls by dialing 100.

The SP, in a statement, announced that following the orders of the DGP, the 'Dial 100' call system was technologically upgraded. He said that before bifurcation, the call center of the 'Dial 100' was in Hyderabad and the staff received the emergency call used to take time to identify the location and inform the authorities.

He informed that the call centers were now shifted to the district headquarters, thus reducing the reaction time tremendously, from May 2018. Since the time of his taking charge, he said that he received 1255 calls in May 2019 and registered 35 FIRs based on them while they received 1129 calls in June 2019 and registered 31 FIRs in various police stations.

In July 2019, he explained that they received 907 calls and filed 24 FIRs from them and in August, he said that they registered 24 FIRs from the 866 calls received in the month. He said that they have resolved petty issues like quarrels between drunkards, arguments, etc in time and shifted the injured to the hospitals and saved their lives with information from 199 calls.

Siddharth Kaushal said that they were providing vast publicity for proper use of the Dial 100 through offline and online methods. In Prakasam district, the Dial 100 integrated command control room is working under the leadership of SB CI N Srikanth Babu along with SIs K Ajay Kumar, A Balakrishna, U Vemana and their team members.

The SP advised the public to utilize the services of Dial 100 if they were denied to register a complaint in police station or staff behaved rudely, or in case of attacks or issues related to women and children, or if they come across information related to gambling, selling ganja and prostitution or observed the movement of suspicious people, or if they sense disturbance to communal harmony, involved or witnessed in the road or any other accidents and seek emergency help.

He asked the police to not use the emergency service for making fun or prank calls as it is criminal offence and attracts punishment. He said that seven men and two women have been misused the Dial 100 up to now and suitable action is taken on them.
