Guntur: Government Chief Secretary L V Subrahmanyam said that architect of the constitution Dr B R Ambedkar fought against inequalities and tried for casteless society. Addressing a meeting held at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram in the city on Sunday on the occasion of 128th birth anniversary of Ambedkar, Subrahmanyam paid rich tributes to the portrait of Ambedkar and called upon the youth to draw inspiration from Ambedkar's life.

Social Welfare Department Principal Secretary S S Rawat recalled efforts of Ambedkar to set up casteless society and lauded his services to the nation. He stressed on need to follow his footsteps. Principal Secretary (general administration) Praveen Kumar recalled Ambedkar's efforts to uplift the weaker sections and to protect their rights.

Collector Kona Sasidhar urged the weaker sections to avail the facilities provided by the government. He said education is a weapon to fight against poverty and backwardness. Guntur Rural SP S V Rajasekhar Babu, Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao and Social Welfare department director Pola Bhaskar were present.
