Dy CM highlights welfare schemes in Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram: Deputy Chief Minister and Tribal Welfare Minister P Pushpa Srivani has hoisted the tricolour and received the Guard of Honour from armed reserve forces at Parade Grounds on the occasion of 73rd Independence Day celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, she said, "Ours is public government and our priority is to give equal importance for the implementation of welfare schemes and development projects. We will complete all the irrigation projects and give water to agriculture sector. We are encouraging natural farming as it gives high yields.

Around 37,000 farmers in the district are practicing the natural farming in 40,000 acres in this kharif. We will supply 200 units of power per month to tribes at free of cost. The government is implementing Amma Odi scheme, which can be a boon for parents who can't afford school fee and the government is going to pay Rs 15,000 under this scheme."

She said Rs 1,446 crore would be lend as crop loans during the kharif and 61,000 quintals of seeds were distributed to farmers on subsidy.

To ease administration, she said the government established secretariats in Grama Panchayats and municipalities and public can avail all the government services at their doorsteps. Thousands of new jobs were created and now, the public need not run to tahsildar's office to get certificates, she said.

All the government schools would be facelifted and infrastructure would be provided, she said and added "Our aim is to make Vizianagaram as beautiful and clean city." As part of it, we have banned the plastic bags, she stated.

With the support of senior leaders like Minister for Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana, MPs, MLAs, we will make our district as progressive district, she said. Collector M Harijawaharlal and other public representatives participated in the celebrations.
