Educated youth advised to update their technical skills: M Goutham Reddy
Nellore: Minister for Industries and Information Technology M Goutham Reddy said that though there has been an improvement in the curriculum, students are still learning outdated subjects. They have to update their skills to get better job opportunities and also for their better future.
He addressed at a programme in Atmakur in the district on Friday and said that majority of youngsters were able to become graduates in technology because of support extended by the former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Now, majority of youngsters are lacking skills to get better job opportunities, he said.
He inaugurated the Mega Job Mela organised by the AP Skill Development Corporation at Polytechnic College in Atmakur town on Friday in which around 21 companies have participated. The Minister explained that every year 3 lakh engineering graduates and 25,000 students from ITI, and other degree courses are coming out and are searching for jobs.
He lamented that out of this volume only up to one lakh can be accommodated in the local industries. He said Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy directed them to provide skill development training to job seekers for enhancing their capabilities. Goutham Reddy handed over cheques to the beneficiaries as part of the CM Relief Fund during the programme.
Joint Collector Dr V Vinod Kumar said around 600 students will get employment opportunities during the Job Mela. Later, the Minister inaugurated Grama Sachivalayam at Chunchuluru village of Marripadu mandal. Udayagiri MLA M Chandrasekhar Reddy, Former MP M Rajamohan Reddy, DRDA Project Director P Seena Naik, Atmakur RDO K Umdadevi and others were present.
