Eluru: Left parties burn BJP govt effigy
Eluru: Protesting against the negligence of the BJP-led NDA government at Centre to act against the perpetrators of the New Delhi riots in which 38 persons were killed, the Left parties burnt the effigy of BJP government here on Friday.
CPM city secretary P Kishore presided over the dharna organised by CPI, CPM and CPI ML New Democracy at the Ambedkar statue here. CPI district Assistant Secretary B Venkateswara Rao, CPI ML New Democracy District official representative U Venkateswara Rao and CPM district executive committee member A Ravi and others spoke on the occasion. The leaders alleged that the riots happened in the wake of BJP's debacle in recent elections gives room for suspicion.
Though protesters have been agitating peacefully at Shaheenbagh in Delhi against Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and National Population Register for sixty days, no incident of violence was reported. Now, the BJP leaders had perpetrated the violence intentionally, they alleged.
Quoting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who disclosed that hired gangs from Uttar Pradesh took part in the riots, the Left leaders charged the BJP with conspiring for the riots.
They alleged that the BJP instead of taking action against the criminals had transferred High Court judge S Muralidharan overnight for directing the police to take action against the BJP leaders who incited violence with their provocative speeches.
The leaders called upon the people to boycott NPR commencing from April.
