Employment guarantee works underway: JC-II N Tej Bharat

Eluru: Development works have been taken up with funding under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme, said Joint Collector-II N Tej Bharat.

He attended videoconference of Panchayat Raj Minister P Ramachandra Reddy and Panchayat Raj Commissioner Girija Sankar from secretariat. The Collector, R Muthyala Raju also attended the videoconference from Kovvur RDO office.

The progress of scheme works, amount spent so far, preparation of estimation for works to be taken up were reviewed at the videoconference. The Joint Collector-II informed the Minister and Commissioner that while a target of Rs 200 crore worth works for the year 2019-20 under material expenditure, works worth Rs 137.16 crore were taken up till November this year. Material works worth Rs 57.44 crore were under various stages, he explained.

Bharat Tej also said that it was decided to prepare an action plan for laying CC roads, CC drains, construction of village secretariat buildings, land leveling works for house sites under housing schemes, construction of compound walls to schools under Nadu-Nedu with the remaining funds.

Earlier, addressing the District Collectors, the Minister said there was no paucity of funds for the works under the scheme. He asked them to complete the works already taken up at the earliest and prepare estimations for the remaining works for sanction of funds. He asked them to take up more works and keep ready the material to start works within a month.
