Fight against anaemia declared: Collector

Kakinada: District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy on Saturday directed the health staff to identify the areas where anaemia cases were reported high in the district. Speaking at the district-level review committee meeting at the Collectorate, he said that a comprehensive action plan will be implemented to cover the cases of anemia in district.

He directed the officials to integrate the Poshan Abhiyan programme with Anaemia Mukt Bharat to get good results. He added that prophylactic iron and folic acid supplementation, deworming and treating and testing anaemia using digital methods have to be followed for better results.

Reddy directed the DEO to put up wall writings in schools and to identify ambassadors in classrooms to inculcate the habit of taking nutritious food and encouraging kitchen gardens and ZBNF farming was also suggested.
