Five held for cricket betting
Srikakulam: Rajam police arrested five persons in connection with cricket betting. Speaking to media here on Thursday, Superintendent of Police R N Ammi Reddy said that the betting gang had been operating from Rajam town.
The arrested have been identified as G Durga Rao, K Simhachalam, G Anil Kumar, L Appala Naidu and A Bhagavan, he said and added all accused were hailing from Rajam area. The five accused were formed as a gang and calculated ratings prior to betting and inform to interested persons that betting in favour of which team will be beneficial, the SP said.
It is nothing but a gambling and illegal, SP stated. For earning money in an easy way and in short span, youth being attracted towards these illegal activities, SP expressed concern. Additional SP G Ganga Raju and Rajam CI G Soma Sekhar also participated.
