Ahead of local body elections in the state, the opposition Telugu Desam Party has received a rude shock in the form of senior leader and former minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad's resignation to the TDP. Earlier, in the month of January, Dokka resigned for MLC on the citing personal reasons. Frustrated with the attitude of the administration, he wrote an open letter to activists and fans alleging the attitude of the TDP leadership for causing unrest in the party with the false policies.

He said the capital farmers had made false allegations against him in the name of JAC. Dokka strongly condemned the criticism of the TDP leaders and JAC to this extent. "Despite requesting the Tadikonda seat, TDP contested me from Prattipadu constituency, which resulted in the loss, " Dokka asserted.

In his letter, he said that he was mentally affiliated to the YSRCP before the legislative sessions held in January. However, there were no discussions with YSR Congress party's top brass so far. Manikya Vara Prasad said.
