Govt to launch Kanti Velugu from Oct 10 in Kakinada
Kakinada: Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kanna Babu on Saturday said the State government will start Kanti Velugu from October 10.
Participating as chief guest in the three-day Andhra Pradesh Ophthalmic Society Conference being held at the Rangaraya Medical College here, he lauded the contribution of the ophthalmologists for society and called upon them to actively participate and make the Kanti Velugu programme a grand success.
Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas and MP Vanga Geetha were present. Several groups discussions were also held during day. Health Minister felicitated Dr Sankurathri Chandrasekhar, Managing Director and Founder of Srikiran Eye Hospital for his contribution to the needy people through the hospital.
He restored vision to more than 2.6 lakh poor patients so far. The AP Ophthalmic Society also held its elections and formed a new executive committee for the society. Over 2,000 ophthalmologists from across the country attended the conference. Through 'wet lab' arranged in the premises, post-graduates have been trained.
