Guntur: BJP leaders slam YSRCP leaders for attacks, stage dharna

BJP leaders closed their mouths with black ribbons and protested at Dr B R Ambedkar statue at Lodge Centre in Guntur city on Monday.

Guntur: The BJP leaders staged a protest demonstration at the Dr B R Ambedkar statue in Guntur city on Monday against the attacks by the YSRC leaders on the BJP candidates in the local body elections.

In response to call given by the party state committee, the BJP leaders covered their mouths with black ribbons and protested. They raised slogans against YSRCP government and hailed the decision of the State Election Commission for postponing the local body elections.

Addressing the gathering, the former minister and BJP leader Ravela Kishore Babu alleged that the YSRCP leaders were preventing the opposition leaders from filing nominations and threatened them to withdraw nominations.

He demanded the State Election Commission to order an inquiry into irregularities committed by the officials in the election process. He urged Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to change its attitude.

Central Labour Welfare Board chairman Valluru Jayaprakash Narayana,Tobacco Board chairman Yadlapati Raghunatha Babu, BJP leader Narella Madhava Rao were among those present.
