Haj pilgrims can board flight in Vijayawada next year

Vijayawada: Haj pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh can go to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia for the Haj pilgrimage for the year 2020 from Vijayawada airport. The Union government has sanctioned embarkation facility from Vijayawada airport.

Till now Haj pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh were travelling to Hyderabad to board the flight to reach Mecca for the annual pilgrimage. Deputy Chief Minister and Minorities Welfare Minister Amjad Basha said on Saturday that the Union government provided its nod for boarding the flight for the pilgrimage from Vijayawada airport (Gannavaram airport).

Muslim Personal Law Board member Mufti Mohammed Farukh has thanked Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for taking the initiative for the convenience of Haj pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh.

He said notification for Haj 2020 pilgrimage will be released on October 10 and requested the interested pilgrims to make the necessary arrangements for the travel.

With the embarkation facility arranged in Vijayawada, Haj pilgrims can happily board the flight here instead of going to Hyderabad and staying in the Haj House.
